Steel, fruit and vegetable salesman. Far right is Northcote Place and across the foreground, right, is Lady Pit Lane.

I bought my first byke from Harry Steel for 15shillings when I was 13 yrs old. It was a disusued delivery byke with a small wheel at the front and a metal frame above it to hold a basket. That would have been in 1947-8. Once I'd mastered it I went and got a job delivering groceries for the Thrift Stores in Dewsbury Road
