South Mount Street at the junction with South Ridge Street

17th July 1964, The corner shop is at number 6 South Ridge Street and is a grocers occupied by G Wilkinson. There are advertisments for Padawax shoe polish, Typhoo tea and Aspro amongst other products. A dolls pushchair and a coach built pram are parked on the pavement outside number 24 South Mount Street. Number 22 is far right.

Memories

This corner shop was owned during and after the second world war by MR.and Mrs. Swallow.They sold just about everything from drawing pins to wood chips to light your coal fire. For regular customers some credit or 'tick'as it was known was allowed. A real 'open all hours' store
