Image shows the open-air bathing pool at Roundhay Park, packed full with people on the occasion of the Whit Monday Bank Holiday in 1944, which for many would have been a rare opportunity to enjoy a day out with the family away from the turmoil of the Second World War. This image was digitised as part of the ‘Future Prospects of Urban Parks’ project, conducted by the University of Leeds in partnership with Leeds City Council, supported by the Arts and Humanities Research Council (grant number: AH/N001788/1).
