Manor Farm, Leeds University, Department of Agriculture
Undated, A young woman practices yolking a horse to a cart as part of a short farming course at Manor Farm, on lease to the University. She was probably one of many women who took advantage of two week practical courses here during the First World War. Other skills included dairy work, the making of butter and soft cheese. The cart seen here was sometimes used as a vehicle for crop spraying and much experimental work and research was carried out at Manor Farm into weeds, insects and fungoid pests.
